DJM Real Estate, the real estate division of Gordon Brothers Group, announced today that the M&A Advisor has named Lara Sessler, Director, DJM Real Estate, as a winner in the Service Professional Category of the 6th Annual 40 Under 40 M&A Advisor Recognition Awards.  Ms. Sessler will be recognized for her contributions in the financing and turnaround industry at the M&A Advisor Awards dinner on June 29th.

The M&A Advisor created the M&A Advisor recognition awards program in 2010 to promote mentorship and professional development among emerging leaders in the M&A, financing and restructuring industries.

"Lara is extremely deserving of this award and we are very proud of her contributions to the industry at large,” stated Mark Dufton, CEO of DJM Real Estate.  “Lara is a bright and accomplished member of our team, earning her law degree and reaching other professional milestones while continually providing the highest level of service to our clients over the years,” he added. “She has become a tremendous force in the real estate business, and her upside is unlimited.  We congratulate Lara for her hard work, perseverance and contributions to our success,” Dufton said.

Ms. Sessler joined DJM Real Estate in 2005 and over the past ten years has successfully mitigated or restructured over 535 real estate leases, saving clients more than $60 million.  As Director, she specializes in the marketing and disposition of excess retail and industrial real estate nationally.  Ms. Sessler has worked on some of the retail industry’s largest lease restructuring and bankruptcy projects.  In addition, she has contributed to the Suffolk County Pro Bono Foreclosure Project and volunteers for New York Cares.

“I am honored to have been chosen for this prominent industry award.  I am fortunate to be a part of a team that is one of the premier real estate advisory and restructuring firms in the industry,” said Ms. Sessler.

Ms. Sessler serves as a board member of the International Council of Shopping Center’s Legal Update publication and has authored two articles, “Is a Landlord Obligated to Mitigate Damages?” and “Concession Rhymes With Recession: Legal Issues in Rent Reductions.”  She received a bachelor of arts degree in Philosophy, Politics and Law from Binghamton University and a J.D. from Touro Law School.
